What is the carbon foot print just for solar?

Comparing land need between solar energy production vs nuclear energy?

Picture

If all electricity was supplied by...

  • Solar generation- would require solar farms with a footprint of 525,312 square miles.
  • Wind generation- would require wind farms with a total footprint of 1,808,166 square miles.
Because wind and solar generation are unreliable, these methods still would require backup generation which is usually natural gas or coal generation.
  • Nuclear generation- would require nuclear stations with a footprint of just 4,619 square miles.  Learn more here

Beware: 100% green energy could destroy the planet

Wind and solar farms require hundreds of thousands of acres. So, to provide enough electric power to keep Manhattan lit up at night would require paving over nearly the whole state of Connecticut with windmills and solar farms. To go to zero over the next 20 years would be economically catastrophic and cost tens of millions of jobs also.  Learn more here
